Which Disc Has Slip Disc

As a practitioner, I and my team come across a question or query several times a day. My C4-C5/L4-L5 or some other disc bugles, can you help me? They just tell that which disc has a slipped disc. And try to find an answer on behalf of this, only.

People are more fascinated about telling me that my blah-blah disc bulges. And it is causing the pain in my blah-blah part! How many of you have come across this? Well, the answer is not blah-blah! It is more than that. Today, as a practitioner, I am going to tell you the complete story about these ‘disc bugles’.

Whether discs bugle by themselves or because of another problem- we should know. Because if it has come due to other reasons. And we think we can cure the pain by doing disc surgery; we will be cheating with our patients and also with themself. And this will increase their disease process and they may need more treatment than others. If it happens naturally, don’t try to do surgery rather treat that condition first before operating on that particular disc. It’s like doing ACC surgery for a sprained ankle!

Do you know – when surgery is a must in slipped disc

The Disc which slipped

If your doctor is telling you- Your C5/6/7/L5/S1 disc bugled

Above all, it has nothing to do with pain. The disc bulges but doesn’t bugle! And it gets worse or painful only when there’s increased pressure on the nerve root(s) coming out of that disc bulge. Let me explain…

It concerns the discs present between each vertebra ( bones ) throughout your spinal column called intervertebral discs. Here are two parts which together make a disc. An outer ring of fibrocartilage and another nucleus pulposus -the jelly which is fluid in nature. Your weight-bearing spinal column manages to sustain you for long hours due to these discs.

The disc: A complicated Structure

The outer fibrocartilage is a tough structure that provides a cushion to each vertebra and helps in its movement. You can also think of it as a shock absorber of your car’s suspension, which absorbs the shocks and bumps that you face while driving on bad roads. The inner jelly-like nucleus pulposus is a gel-like substance that maintains the normal height of the disc and manages to give you good movement throughout your spine due to maintained disc spaces between two adjacent vertebrae.

Know what does Ayurveda think about- NORMAL DISC OF SPINE

As we grow old, there may be natural wearing out of both outer rings- jelly-like nucleus pulposus components of intervertebral discs.

Which results in loss of fluid from the nucleus pulposus (due to absorption by other tissues or because of injury to the nuclear material) and/or degeneration, hypertrophy (bulging out), fissures, and tears in the outer fibrocartilage ring.

Although these conditions do not cause pain initially. People with disc problems are more likely to suffer from low back pain later on in life, a general perception.

What Causes a Slipped Disc?

Your chances can increase much by smoking, obesity, constant bending or twisting, injuries, etc. If there’s a huge tear in your discs i.e., an acute disc herniation. You will feel- radiation of the pain. This means you are having sharp shooting pain. It means pain radiates into one or both legs due to the pressure on nerve roots. Nerves that come out of that affected level to move downwards through the spinal nerves. However, if the nucleus pulposus loses or severely reduces due to degeneration. It means you are having bulging out of discs (congenital disc anomaly)- it may not feel any pain at all!

You will have no pain even if that disc has a very high bulge. Sometimes these conditions are associated with other problems like osteoporosis in which you may also have a compression fracture. But still, there’s no pain because your natural jelly-like nucleus pulposus takes part in absorbing the shock. When the weight-bearing area presses downwards on them.

The which disc complex

I can’t emphasize myself enough here. If there’s little or no jelly-like substance in the center of the adjacent bone- you can not expect any pain in its surrounding areas!

Pain due to disc problem– Know more.

Long story short- There’s nothing like herniated disc bugs. It’s not like you can go back, sit on your couch and watch TV (not these days with DVRs available!) to make this condition better!

Rather you should try to find out whether it is treated naturally. If due to other reasons like osteoporosis, then think again before considering surgery as the only solution for pain relief. However, if that disc has ruptured (acute disc herniation) i.e., there’s little fluid in the middle of two bones- don’t think twice before resecting that bulging padding between them! But…

My opinion matters not because I am a specialist but because I have personally experienced two back surgeries- total lumbar discectomy for acute herniated disc and facet denervation with lysis of adhesions for chronic sciatic pain on my lower back which was due to the aforementioned congenital condition.

Approach Sukhayu Follows

All 33 (except the sacral bones) stay together with help of muscles and ligaments. These are muscles that hold these vertebrae together and stretching of these muscles creates pressure on the column and leads to the compression of the discs. Because these discs are balloon-like structures. Once we press these, these start bulging on the sides and start irritating the nerves.

So, this is the pathology, which causes the bulge of the disc. Not the disc itself.

You press a balloon and it will deflate. Then what is wrong with the balloon itself. The problem lies in that reason which bulges the disc. So we need to remove the cause. Not the discs.

Whichever disc it is- matters hardly. What matters is that why did the disc bulges.

Perhaps this is the lacunae in the allopathic approach which leads a patient to surgery after surgery.

We took a different approach towards the treatment of the condition, we look for the root cause of the problem and then try to rectify that cause at Sukhayu Ayurved. This makes us special, otherwise, we don’t do the magic.

So it doesn’t matter which disc has a slipped disc, what matters is the root cause behind the slip disc?? Therefore we work on the root cause of the problem so that we can bring your slipped back to normal. When you want to solve something, you need an approach and Sukhayu has that factor with it.

Target the cause behind the problem, not the disc alone

We have managed to treat successfully more than 20000 cases with a slipped disc. We have been able to bring them back to normalcy with our expertise and knowledge of Ayurveda. With almost zero distress, these patients are going through life without any pain or inconvenience in their lives. Please note that we at Sukhayu, believe that the treatment of a condition should be based on its root cause. And not merely looking from a symptomatic point of view as most allopathic doctors do. To understand it is easy – you don’t need us! But what makes us different from the rest, is our approach to treat a condition. We do not believe in blindly treating a disease or a symptom because we know that this will cause more problems.

The Ayurvedic Way

For example, you always see allopathic doctors prescribing medicines for pain only. And when they find nothing working after a few attempts they abandon their patient and move on to another patient without trying to look for the root cause- which in most cases lies in the ‘Dosha’. Do they never think that what has done it? They don’t try to understand why did it happen? What made it happen?

How many Doshas were there at play when this slipped disc took place?

What role did Dosha play in causing the problem.?

These are some questions which an allopathic doctor will never know because he is trained to find a symptom, not the cause.

But at Sukhayu, our knowledge of AYUSH enables us to identify the root cause of the problem and treat it accordingly. That is why we are able to bring back thousands of patients with the slipped discs to normalcy without surgery or painkillers!

It is about Doshas: not just structures

We work with your Dosha in mind, We match your Dosha along with treatment modalities so that you get better faster!!

When you undergo Ayurvedic Treatment let it be back-related or any other ailment for that matter, you need to understand some basics about how do they work- Your Dosha! When you understand what makes your body function properly and what causes illness in your body, then you can take your health into your own hands and be responsible for it.

You must know that we won’t treat you for a disease or an ailment rather we will treat you at the level of Doshas and bring back normalcy in their functions so that they give you good health.

In Ayurveda, Dosha is the source of life! So when Dosha works properly on its own accord, any problem will never happen! All our problems are because our Dosha doesn’t perform according to its capacity or they fail to function properly on time or they get imbalanced due to some reason which leads to ailments and diseases!

The Doshas and their role in health

This imbalance in Doshas is called ‘Vikriti’. When you have a Vikriti, you will have an ailment in your body! It is very important to understand this so that you can know the cause of every ailment. So when we treat people with any disease or ailment, it’s mostly because of their Dosha imbalance which is called Vikriti. When Vikriti occurs in our body, all ailments are manifested due to that reason.

The Doshas are three in number- Vata, Pitta & Kapha

Vata dosha governs movement and sensation in your body; lack of Vata causes numbness and loss of feeling.

Pitta dosha resides in the digestive system; when Pitta is imbalanced it may lead to stomach disorders like acidity and ulcers.

Kapha dosha is responsible for the formation of body tissues; when Kapha is disturbed it causes respiratory problems.

There are other Doshas inside us apart from these three i.e Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas yet we find that most ailments and diseases occur due to Vata, Pitta, and Kapha only! Therefore it’s important to understand what function each Dosha plays and why certain ailments or diseases occur in our body due to their imbalance!

And this imbalance takes place because of our daily lifestyle which ultimately leads to distress at the molecular level causing a disturbance in Doshas functions & thereby leading us towards a disease-prone lifestyle!

It’s time we change our lifestyle so that we remain free of diseases and ailments!
