T1-T2 Disc Problem

Thoracic region is the first segment of the thoracic or dorsal spine. This is the reason in few reports it is mentioned as D1-D2 region also. So there is no difference in T1-T2 and D1-D2 discs. These are same. As we all know there are only few chances of the disc problems in dorsal spine, because this area is fixed in comparison to the cervical spine and lumbar spine. These disc problems in thoracic region remains silent in most of the case. But not in case of T1-T2 slip disc. Ayurvedic treatment of T1-T2 slip disc problem also requires the same approach based Panchakarma therapies what we do in other disc problems.

When we discuss about D1-D2 disc problem or T1-T2 disc problem, symptoms are more like- cervical disc herniation. The reason, why T1-T2 disc problem- bulge or herniation mimics the cervical disc problems is- the nerve root from D1-D2 disc is- T1 and this is part of the brachial plexus. Thus if there are some brachial plexus injuries on lower side there will be impact on the same nerve root and its supply too.

T1-T2 Slip Disc

All the discs in the spine, have an inner soft part with harder shell outside. When there is a compression on the disc, it starts decaying. The same decay can be age related too. Specially in case of T1-T2 disc problem, age plays an important role. Along with this when we work with pronated shoulders and fixed neck- chances of problem with D1-D2 disc increases in same frequency. There are many different condition with T1-T2 disc and these are as follows-

T-T2 Desiccated Disc

Movement the blood supply to the disc is interrupted it causes the desiccation of the disc. This process of desiccation starts due to the pressure on the spinal arteries. There might be some other reasons like- some addiction or something like this, that causes the desiccation of the T1-T2 disc.

T1-T2 Degenerative Disc Disease

When the inner core of the disc when stops getting proper nutrition, than it starts decaying further. This is the condition, which is more common than other conditions in the T1-T2 disc. The main reason behind this is the inappropriate process of ageing.

T1-T2 Bulged Disc

This the next process of degenerative disc disease is- disc bulge. When the pressure is increasing with the time and jelly starts moving towards the periphery of the disc, it causes several symptoms according the compression on the nerve roots. On which side the compression is more symptoms will be according to that.

T1-T2 Herniated Disc

Movement the inner soft part of the disc jelly- nucleus pulposus tears the annular ligament and starts coming out in the spinal canal or in lateral foramina. This is disc herniation. This is a rarest condition in case of all thoracic discs, but can appear in this reason due to trauma.

T1-T2 Disc protrusion

T1-T2 slip disc or disc protrusion is a common word for all these conditions. When there is a change in the consistency of the jelly of disc, this falls under condition of slip disc or disc protrusion.

Symptoms of T1-T2 slip disc

This is the T1 nerve root which originates from the T1-T2 region. The symptoms of T1-T2 slip disc depends on the severity of the problem. When there is some problem in the T1-T2 diss, it gives similar symptoms to cervical problem. Because this nerve root is the part of the brachial plexus. The symptoms of T1-T2 slip disc are-

  • Pain just below the spine of the scapula.
  • There will be pain in the front side of Arm Pit.
  • Pain can radiate in the upper 2nd and 3rd ribs , just below the shoulder joint.
  • Radiation of pain in the upper arm on the front side.

These all symptoms always confuse before the proper diagnosis of slip disc in D1-D2. Therefore an MRI scan is important to find our the proper cause behind the problem.

Ayurvedic treatment of T1-T2 slip disc problem

The main concept of Ayurvedic treatment of T1-T2 slip disc problem is based on the cause of the problem. Because Ayurvedic treatment of T1-T2 slip disc problem is not about suppression of signs and symptoms alone. If we just suppress the pain and associated discomfort due to T1-T2 slip disc, that won’t be a permanent solution of the problem. Because in this case, a patient might get back all those symptoms of T1-T2 slip disc come back again. So the treatment is dependent on the following parameters-

Kyphotic Deformities:

If there is some deformity behind T1-T2 slip disc than we aim to restore the kyphotic changes. In this condition we work on the posture of the shoulders and neck all together. Therefore, once muscles and ligaments are relaxed around the T1-T2, we start working on the kyphotic curve of the spine. So that we can give the proper space to the disc and it can breathe normally and can remain its space.

Ageing:

There is no medicine or procedure to reverse the process of ageing. Ayurvedic treatment of T1-T2 slip disc problem due to process of ageing is all about slowing down the process of ageing and in deletion of the marks of age. This is possible through panchakarma procedures and Rasyana therapies later on.
